MINIMAL AFRICA (2Q15)

Welcome to the world of “2Q15”: a sub-collection of Curated Jewelry from the 2015 Autumn/Winter Collection. This photo is evidence of the cultural evolution which first took place in the colonial era, when “Modern” European culture dominated an “Ethnic” African culture. As a result, African society was gradually permeated by European influences. The arrival of European influences is visually reflected through the combination of two cultures. The “Minimal Africa” sub-collection showcases a complex and miniaturized silhouette of the original Zulu tribe necklace. The delicate and complex details of the original decorative Zulu beads were simplified using layered EVA foam from laser cutting in the industrial design production process.
